Family Businesses are understood to be those commercial organizations in which decision making is influenced by several generations of the same family, which has both the ability to influence the business vision and the willingness of the same to pursue defined goals.1

The family business is the oldest and also the most used economic organization model.2

In a study conducted in Illinois with reports from 1924 to 1984, it is revealed that only 13% of successful family businesses continue after three generations. Less than 2/3 of those studied survived two generations.3
